ConnecTree

Taking root

As a non-profit branch of Support Inc., ConnecTree contracts with certified Foster Care Providers, placing children with developmental disabilities into safe and nurturing homes. With continuing support from our Benefits Specialists, Child Placement Coordinators, Nurses and Behavior Specialists, our Foster Care Providers receive all the resources they need to provide an environment that encourages personal growth and independence. Matching children with providers best suited to support their needs is our first step, and we don’t stop our search until a placement is made. We then work with each Foster Care Provider to establish a constructive family support system by providing the following services:

  • Training, specific to each child, in the field of developmental disabilities
  • Monthly monitoring to ensure compliance with state and organizational standards
  • Ongoing education, counseling, training and support: Our Child Placement Coordinators establish close relationships with every Foster Care Provider and are always available to answer questions and offer additional help.
  • Outward-bound type experiences tailored to the specific needs of children with multiple-handicapping conditions.
  • Developing a positive behavioral support curriculum, minimizing problems and empowering the child.
  • Creating activities that enhance quality of life and relationships, reducing the need for behavioral intervention.
  • Recreational opportunities, including Special Olympics, skiing and cycling.

Branching out

Once a strong family foundation is in place, each child is encouraged to take part in the community outside the home. This is an ongoing process that we accomplish by training our Foster Care Providers in areas such as goal-setting and confidence building. Self-determination and self-esteem are cultivated in each child, giving them the assurance they need to branch out into society.

Our Foster Care Providers hold fast to a shared vision – fostering the unique potential of the developmentally disabled with a caring heart and a competent hand.
