Host Home Program

There’s nothing like coming home

Many adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive in a supportive, family-style environment. Through our Host Home Program, Support, Inc. Network partners with compassionate, carefully selected providers who open their homes to offer individualized care, stability, and meaningful connection in a safe, welcoming setting.

We offer a variety of living environments designed to reflect each individual’s needs, preferences, and goals. Whether someone prefers living with a single provider or within a family that includes children, we work thoughtfully to find the right fit.

A Host Home is not a facility — it is a real home within the community. Individuals have their own private bedroom and share common living spaces as part of the household, building natural relationships and daily routines that foster belonging.

What a Host Home Provides

Host Home Providers create a safe, nurturing environment while supporting daily living needs, which may include:

  • Meal preparation
  • Medication administration
  • Coordination of medical care and appointments
  • Personal care assistance
  • Transportation and community involvement
  • Skill-building and independence support

Beyond day-to-day care, our focus is on helping each person build confidence, learn new skills, and fully participate in their community.

Comprehensive Support & Oversight

Support, Inc. Network surrounds both individuals and Host Home Providers with a strong, coordinated support team. Our experienced clinicians, registered nurses, residential program coordinators, quality assurance professionals, and public benefits specialists work together to ensure consistent, high-quality care.

All Host Home Providers receive extensive training in:

  • General care and support
  • Medication Certification
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Positive behavior supports
  • Consumer rights and safety
  • Case-by-case specific needs, related to each individual served

We provide ongoing guidance, regular monitoring, and responsive support to promote stability, safety, and long-term success. Families can feel confident knowing every home is carefully screened, including background and reference checks and home safety inspections.

Our goal is simple: deliver reliable support that helps individuals thrive and gives families peace of mind.

Promoting Growth & Independence

Helping individuals achieve their highest quality of life is at the heart of our Host Home Program. We work closely with providers and care teams to encourage growth in areas such as:

  • Safety awareness
  • Money management
  • Cooking and meal planning
  • Hygiene and personal care
  • Activities of daily living
  • Social and community engagement

A Host Home resident has the opportunity to:

  • Discover greater independence and develop new life skills
  • Thrive in a secure, caring environment
  • Build meaningful relationships
  • Engage more fully in community life

Our Matching Process ~ Because the Right Fit Matters

The most important part of this process is you. We use a thorough, person-centered matching process to ensure compatibility between individuals and Host Home Providers.

We meet with the individual and their support team to understand preferences, lifestyle habits, needs, and goals. Areas we explore include:

  • Cleanliness and home environment
  • Social preferences
  • Personal care needs
  • Interests and hobbies
  • Likes, dislikes, and routines

Potential Host Home Providers complete an Ideal Consumer Profile outlining the type of individual who would best fit their household. Our placement team conducts a comprehensive home study and carefully evaluates compatibility, personality alignment, and openness to ongoing family involvement.

When a potential match is identified, we coordinate opportunities for both parties to meet and get to know one another. Afterward, we assess comfort and compatibility together before confirming placement.

This careful process helps ensure long-term stability and meaningful, lasting connections.

Host Home Providers play a vital role in helping individuals flourish. Providers receive:

  • Extensive initial and ongoing training
  • Customized training specific to the individual(s) in their home
  • Ongoing support from a residential program coordinator, nurse, clinician, and public benefits specialist
  • Competitive compensation

Most importantly, providers have the opportunity to make a lasting difference by creating a home where someone can truly belong.
